As WPBN reported, Cherry Capital Airport announced Thursday that the facility will soon offer nonstop service to Los Angeles and San Francisco. Airport director Kevin Klein told WPBN that the new routes make TVC one of thirty airports globally to connect to all seven United Airlines hubs.
The expansion is supported by a federal grant of seven hundred fifty thousand dollars from the U.S. Department of Transportation, alongside thousands of dollars from local partners, totaling one million dollars in support. Trevor Tkach, president and CEO of Traverse City Tourism, told WPBN that the new routes will help boost the visitor economy beyond the summer months. The new flight services follow the airport's 'Gates to the Future' project, which adds four new gates.
